Ash Matelski - Artist Portraits

I had the pleasure of photographing Flagstaff-based artist Ashley Matelski in her downtown art studio (2021), bringing her botanical-inspired paintings and pyrography pieces to life with natural light and playing around in the studio. Surrounded by her vibrant work and soft studio glow, Ash’s creativity was lovely to photograph and it was a joy to frame her work in a series of editorial-style portraits and workspace details.

This session perfectly blends Flagstaff art studio photography with personal storytelling. Editorial portrait work is my favorite. Getting to capture folks doing what they love, creative environments, and the subtle interplay between photojournalistic style and portraiture.
