A good headshot doesn't have to feel like a corporate portrait. Sometimes it's about giving someone the space to show a few different sides of themselves.
Aidan joined me at the Downstream Studio in downtown Flagstaff for a fresh collection of professional and creative headshots. We kept things simple, working with different backdrops, lighting, and outfit changes to create a gallery with plenty of variety.
We started with soft, even lighting against a light background, focusing on natural expressions and relaxed posing. From there, we moved into darker backdrops for portraits with a little more contrast and an editorial feel. A few seated poses and playful expressions brought another side of Aidan's personality into the mix.
One of my favorite things about photographing headshots in the studio is how much we can change with just a few small adjustments. The direction of the light, a shift in posture, or a different expression can completely change the feeling of a photograph without losing what makes it personal.
I love creating portraits that feel polished without being overly posed. Whether you're looking for traditional professional headshots, something more creative, or a little of both, there's room to make the session your own.
