Some businesses have a story that simply can't be told with a traditional headshot and a clean backdrop.
New Moon Somatics is one of them.
I recently had the pleasure of photographing Andrea, the person behind New Moon Somatics, for a creative branding session in the landscapes of Northern Arizona. Her work centers around somatic practices, embodiment, connection, and helping people build a more compassionate relationship with themselves and the world around them.
We wanted her photographs to feel connected to that work. Earthy, playful, a little unconventional, and full of the textures and colors that make her approach her own.
Branding Photography Beyond the Traditional Headshot
We spent our time photographing in the forest and out among the open landscapes surrounding Flagstaff, creating a mix of personal branding portraits, lifestyle photographs, and little storytelling details.
There were flowers, colorful clothing, food, books, natural textures, and moments around the fire. A little bit of everything, really.
Rather than approaching the session as a series of perfectly posed portraits, we explored the things that make Andrea and her business interesting. The resulting photographs offer a look at both the person behind New Moon Somatics and the experiences, ideas, and connection that shape her work.
That's what I love about creative branding photography. There's room to get curious and make something that doesn't look like everyone else's website.
